Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, senior BJP leader Samik Bhattacharya has announced that if the party comes to power, eligible journalists in the state will receive a monthly allowance of ₹5,000. Bhattacharya stated that the proposed initiative is aimed at addressing financial challenges faced by working journalists.
