A follow-up search at Wadood Ahmed's Topsia office also yielded crucial evidence
In a significant crackdown on cybercrime, a joint raid conducted last night by authorities busted an illegal call center operating from the first floor of a building on Jodh Bhim Road, under Hatgachha Post Office, KLC Police Station, in South 24 Parganas. The operation, initiated based on Cyber P.S, Kolkata GDE/No. 400 dated July 17, 2025, led to the arrest of 18 individuals involved in the fraudulent activity.
During the raid, police seized a substantial cache of electronic equipment and incriminating documents. Among the items recovered were 24 mobile phones, 22 computer hard disks, 2 routers, and 6 headsets. Crucially, documents containing call leads, customer data, screenshots of dialers, and remote access software were also confiscated, providing key evidence of the illegal operations.
Furthering the investigation, a subsequent search was conducted at the office of the prime accused, Wadood Ahmed, styled as "Ala Fashion" at 1B/24, Kustia Road, Topsia, under Tiljala Police Station. This search yielded more incriminating documents, including agreements for flats, labor contracts, various leave and license agreements, and a cheque book in Wadood Ahmed's name. Both Wadood Ahmed, identified as the prime accused, and the local handler, Majid, have been arrested in connection with the case, which has been registered under various sections of the IT Act, 2000, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
