India has created history as it became the first country to land on the South Pole of lunar surface.  The real test of the mission began at the last leg of the landing. Prior to 20 minutes before landing, ISRO initiated Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS). It enabled Vikram LM to take charge and use its on-board computers and logic to identify a favourable spot and make a soft-landing on the lunar surface. Experts say that the final 15 to 20 minutes were highly crucial for the success of the mission when Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander descended down to its soft landing. Mamata launches anti-ragging helpline amid uproar over Jadavpur student death West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday launched an anti-ragging helpline for students of all educational institutions in the state. The new helpline was announced amid the uproar over the suicide of a student at Jadavpur University, allegedly due to ragging. Students facing ragging can contact police officials through the helpline number 18003455678, the chief minister said. The helpline is monitored by Kolkata Police and will be available 24x7. Protests erupted at Kolkata's Jadavpur University after a 17-year-old first-year student died by suicide by jumping from the second floor of the hostel building on August 9.
